Projects in PROGRESS (2010-2012):
- Construction and equipping of a nursery in Mombasa
- Support for Kenyan women with school scholarships
- Strengthening the health system in the Kenyan region of Embu
FLAGSHIP project:
Although Kenya is not one of the priority countries in Africa in terms of need for assistance, the living conditions of most of its inhabitants are very poor. Illiteracy among women reaches 21.5%. Life expectancy is 44.1 years and infant mortality is 119 per thousand.
In Kenya, infant mortality rates are still far from meeting the challenge set by the UN in the Millennium Development Goals, which states the intention to reduce infant death rates by two thirds by 2015. However, if the hospital care which is received by the smallest is improved, this goal would be more achievable.
Since 1995, Fundación del Valle has supported, projects that encourage and strengthen women as a key part of the country's development through economic aid and social initiatives in areas such as education and health.
